Cosmic Bodies: Study 02

In April of 2024, I traveled 1000 miles to experience a full solar eclipse for four minutes. The experience was beyond magical and strange and wonderful, and it resulted in my return to some motifs that influenced some of my earliest professional work. We always come full circle, yet each point is a new dimension of time and space.

“Cosmic Bodies” live in a world beyond form and detail. They are nebulous. It is aether. With bold washes of color, the dense linear marks of oil stick, forms begin to reveal themselves in a world beyond our own world. 

Faces, stars, moons and suns, plant matter, a world beyond our world. 

These pieces are informed by my eclipse experience and an ongoing study of 15th-17th century alchemical texts and celestial book arts.
